Being a gifted student involves a whole lot more than performing well in the classroom. Chances are good that you are very aware of the larger world around you, that you may ask more questions than other kids your age about the future or your relationships with friends and family, and that you even feel a little isolated where you go to school if other gifted students who share your interests and priorities are few and far between.
All of these are good reasons why we are happy to announce a new feature in our student publications: Ask Paris, a column that will provide you with guidance and a sense of connection around the social and emotional issues most important to you.
Send us your questions or topics you’d like to see discussed
In what ways does social media impact you? What is trending with students today? Are you struggling to fit in or be yourself? Are you being bullied and unsure of what to do about it? Are you having trouble with a someone who just doesn’t seem to get you?
Whatever your concern, if you send it in to TIP, we’ll do our best to anonymously answer your question or comment here and give you feedback or guidance.
All questions you submit will be answered by Paris Andrew, TIP’s Director of Partnerships & Engagement, in consultation with other TIP giftedness experts. Paris most recently served as TIP’s Dean of Students for many summers and, in her capacity leading the residential side of TIP’s educational programs, she has talked to thousands of students over the years (and nearly as many parents). She understands the challenges you face and how best to do what’s right for you in just about any circumstance.
So join us next month for our first Ask Paris feature and, in the meantime, submit questions for her here.
