Review: Marvel Cinematic Universe

October 14, 2020 1 Comment

This review was submitted by Ruslana Hatch, a 7th grader from North Carolina.

A few years ago, I remember everyone started talking about Avengers Endgame. I knew that this was some superhero series with all the known superheroes like Spiderman, Ironman, and Captain America. Other than that, I had no idea what it was.

I remember a kid asking me, “I can’t wait for Endgame to come out, can you?”

I replied, “Oh, I couldn’t care less about it.”

Time comes around to the day that it came out and practically everyone was buzzing about how they were going to the movies after school. I was just trying to finish my school work without being interrupted.

A month later, my aunt tells me to watch Captain Marvel. Looking back, I think this movie is what sparked my interest for Avengers. The cliff hanger at the end, where Nick Fury talks about how there could be more heroes in the world, put the idea in my head and made me think a little more: “I wonder if other MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) movies are as good as this one.”

A few weeks later, Avengers Endgame comes up on the tv and my mom tells me to watch it because Captain Marvel is probably in it. It was probably not the best choice to watch that one first because I had no idea who the characters were, and nothing made sense.

I learned I really like action movies, so I set out on a mission to watch the rest of them. I grew really fond of Black Widow, Captain Marvel, and Gamora. I think that Guardians of the Galaxy is so hilarious that you can’t not watch it. The Avengers have never-ending humor to them, and they are big on sarcasm. Loki and Thor’s relationship is most unique, and although Ironman’s over sized ego can be annoying sometimes, he is a fun character. Spiderman is awesome with his humor and silliness. I can’t wait for the new Black Widow movie to come out.

Hey, I don’t know if you’re also looking at comic versions of these characters, but if you are I totally suggest looking inti the “villains” storylines. Like the character venom (okay so he’s not technically in the MCU yet, but a girl can dream). The reason I say venom is because his storyline ropes in tons of other very interesting characters, villains, and hero’s. He teams up with enemies in one comic but goes back to wreaking havoc the next. Knowing the villains or at least antagonists of a story makes it even more fun to watch. If the symbiote isn’t your thing I can also suggest Bucky Barnes (aka the winter soldier) or Deadpool (he might be an antihero/ anti villain but the Merc with a mouth is absolutely hilarious). Lastly if you are willing to try out comics, you absolutely have to look into DC’s Batfamily, you might think you know Batman and robin but trust me, you don’t.
