Natalia Smith, a ninth grader from Kentucky, recommends The Giver, by Lois Lowry.
This books has such defined detail when talking about imagery, and it puts what the author wants you to see right in front of you. Along with the fact that the journey of the story is in such depth and has such emotion, even in a place with no emotion—it’s dazzling. Reading this book teaches so much it’s bewildering. It teaches the importance of having your memories and emotions and how you have to struggle through life because there is no real Eden or perfect society. It’s a book for all ages, and it’s unforgettable. You’ll love it—I can almost guarantee it.
