Flying to Bahrain
Hello everyone! I had a long plane ride. I got sick a little bit, but I finished the ride. We flew out of Washington DC, then I went to Germany. I had an awesome time. Germany’s airport is really big. We had to walk for about an hour. However, the people on the plane were really nice. My mom packed a lot of snacks. It was really cool. Then we stopped in Qatar. It was awesome flying on the plane. I even had my own TV. The next stop was Bahrain. I saw my daddy; he was waiting for me. The people wore clothes that covered their entire body. Mom said that it was Muslim garb. People took our suitcases to the car for us. They were nice!
The ride to Dad’s house
The ride to Dad’s house was awesome! All the buildings and trees had a lot of lights. It looked like a light show in the whole city. I was shocked to see all the lights. The people drove very fast. The speed limit was 80 to 100. They don’t drive slowly like my grandma. There were signs with big pictures of the kings. At this point, I was really tired.
Dad’s house
We arrived at Dad’s house. His house is amazing. The ride to his house was like a roller coaster. We had to drive up to the top floor. Dad’s house had an indoor pool and a movie theater. He had a huge balcony that you could see all of Bahrain from. When I walked into Dad’s house, he had a Christmas tree and he let me open three presents. And it wasn’t even Christmas! I asked Dad if it was daytime in North Carolina, but he said that it was an eight hour time difference. However, I just wanted to know if it was morning or night! Guess what is really cool! I ordered McDonald’s and they delivered it to Dad’s house while I stayed in my PJ’s. I was wearing my Monster High robe and my gift was Monster High, too! Next stop: the pool!
My day
We made it to the pool after waiting for Mom and Dad! I had a good time at the pool. I wore my bathing suit with the flowers on it. Guess what: I tried banana milk and it was good. It tasted like bananas. We went to LuLu. LuLu is like Walmart except it has toy animals to ride on while parents shop. I crashed into chairs, but I got back on that baby and kept on going! We also went to the park. I tried to fly a kite for the first time and it didn’t go so well!
Camel riding
We visited the royal farm. There were like six hundred camels on the farm. But guess what: it smelled like poop at that place. They let me feed a calf or baby camel. I got to ride a camel. The camel skin was kind of rough but soft. The camel was very friendly; he even let me take pictures. The baby was cute, but one of them was greedy! He tried to snatch the baby food out of his mouth. It was fun, fun, fun!
A family day
We went to the park and had a picnic. There were so many kids there, but they didn’t speak my language. Mom said that they spoke Arabic. They were not much fun to play with. They laughed at me, but it was okay. Hey, guess what: Mom, Dad, and I got to ride the paddle boats and we won the race. It was fun! Mom and Dad paddled, and I just chilled and relaxed!
Lesson in Bahrain
Hey, we went to the mosque. It was fun and big with marble floors that I could slide on and do the moonwalk. A man wrote my name in Arabic. Arabic is written from right to left and the letters are different from English. They don’t use “P.” The “P” is replaced by a “B.” Words are written as they sound. My name is written like noremaC instead of Kamryn.
They had lots of free books. I took one with me. It was called The Qur’an and Modern Science. I got this book to help with my science grade. Guess what: when mom and I walked into the mosque she had to put on Muslim garb, but not me! We took lots of pictures, but we had to be quiet because the mosque is where Muslims pray.
Holiday
New Year’s Eve was awesome! Mom, Dad, and I had a dance party. We wrote New Year’s resolutions and we let them blow in the wind. Guess what! We went to the zoo. I got to feed a goat some bread and ride a horse. The goat ate the bread in one bite. It was crazy! I rode a pony before, but this was my first time riding a horse.
Going home
Surprise, my tooth fell out and it didn’t even hurt! It fell on the floor and blood was everywhere. I did not know if the tooth fairy would give me Bahrain money called dinars or American money—good old dollar bills. Guess what: I got both. A $100 bill and one dinar. Big bucks I tell you! The plane ride home was long. It was good to be home. Yup, that’s the life!
