Congratulations to the winner of our Summer Start-Up Challenge, Logan Cain! Logan, a fifth grade student from North Carolina, and his younger sister Abbey (a future TIPster, no doubt!) won our challenge thanks to their crafting talent and dedication to their book house business.
The two have been making these decorative objects out of books for years. But they went farther than that, as well: they have already spoken with the owner of their local bookstore about selling their houses there, discussing prices, production arrangements, and even putting on workshops to show others how to create the ornaments. On top of that, Logan and Abbey promise to give 15 percent of their revenues to a fund that benefits their community, including animal shelters, and they buy their books from Habitat for Humanity and Goodwill to support those charities.
Congratulations once again to the Cains, and to all of our other participants who submitted their brilliant ideas!
