Let’s say time travel is possible. Let’s say you have access to a time machine. And let’s say that time machine can take you back to any era in the past. Where would you go? What would you do? And why?
You’ve probably been asked those questions before—and with good reason. They’re the kind of questions that can tell a lot about a person.
Are you the kind of person who wants to be a fly on the wall for the most important moments in human history? The kind who wants to change things by intervening in events? The kind who wants to go back to see what things were like before humans existed?
Here’s another way of looking at it: if you had the power to time travel, what would you use it to see? Epic human events? Important people from your own family? The Earth at an early stage? The beginning of the universe?
The conditions are as follows.
- You only get to travel to any place in the world during one time period.
- You’ll stay for one day, then you’ll come back to this time.
- You only get to go once.
- Your safety is guaranteed, so you don’t have to worry about any prehistoric animals eating you.
- You can only go into the past, not the future.
