For gifted and talented students grades 5-7
This Duke TIP interdisciplinary curriculum for gifted elementary and middle school students provides differentiated lessons that explore architecture from both ancient and modern times, teaching students how to use the built environment as a lens for understanding different cultures. Students will journey through civilization’s greatest architectural achievements with hands-on activities while exploring and practicing basic architectural skills. They will be challenged through Google Earth mapping; sketching, drawing, and diagramming; cutting with design tools; and creating in Google Sketchup. Students test various architectural design and physics concepts using egg drops, cardboard modeling, tower building, and concrete casts, and learn to appreciate buildings from across time and around the globe. This course is ideal for any student interested in history, architecture, civilizations, design, building, physics, or engineering. Teachers will have excellent tips for teaching challenging architectural concepts and skills to gifted students.

Hi Lyn,
While exploring the Duke Tip website, I learnt about this well structured and correct age group course. My son always wonder and curious to know more about the Architecture.
I looked into the course published on the website but do not see any content.
Would you please let us know how we can explore the content?
Simal Patel says
Lyn, I received an answer in your email. Thank you very much for helping us.

I have loved using this unit in previous years with my middle school students, the content is no longer showing up. Is there a way to access it still?

Hi,
We’ve been enjoying using the TIP book club selections as Novel Studies and came across the “curriculum vault”. My TAG homeschooled daughter is very interested in this course and the Writers Journey 1&2, but we are unable to access any of the courses, they all just give 404 errors. As others have asked before me, we would love to know if there is still a way to access these courses. Can you help us?
